Burgers are great, and the vegetarian chili is REALLY awesome. The vibe cannot be beat in DC, comfy, cozy and (mostly) friendly (even have a fireplace going in the winter).
The don't keep the on-tap beer cold enough, so go for bottles or a mixed drink, and their A/C isn't up to the task in the hotter months, but it's all good, because it's one of the few U St. places with character and absolutely NO pretention.
