Buyindie Supports OpenID

Image
Sep 29 2007: Just because you haven't registered on buyindie doesn't mean you can't log in and participate! Buyindie now supports OpenID, a decentralized login method that is free and secure. In fact, if you have a typekey or AOL account, you probably already have an OpenID account. Click through to learn a bit more about this cool new feature!

OpenID means the elimination of multiple user names and passwords and a smoother, more secure, online experience. There are dozens of providers out there including Typekey (for people using Moveable Type blogs, this means you can sign in at any time!), AOL (63 million of you), MyOpenID, or any other provider.

Here's what you do:

  1. Sign up for an OpenID account if you don't already have one. Typekey users should enter profile.typekey.com/yourusername and aol users or anyone with an AIM account should type openid.aol.com/screenname
  2. Enter the URL into the Buyindie Login box
  3. There is no step 3!

How it works: You sign into your OpenID account and from there the server gives us the OK that you are who you say you are. And, although all Buyindie passwords are encrypted *twice*, you can be confident that no password information ever crossed over the inter-tubes.

After you're logged in, be sure to visit your personal Buyindie page to set your address and preferences. Since you didn't register with us (we're sad about that but we'll get over it) we had to make some assumptions about where you live and your favorite ice cream.

So thanks for signing in, whether through OpenID or through our simple registration process. We appreciate you stopping by from time to time to pitch in and to enjoy what we've got!

Please email us or leave an anonymous message if you're having trouble and we'll do our best to help you out!
